# When Parcels Overtook Letters

In 2024, 335 million parcels and small packages moved through Romania’s postal networks, compared with 267 million correspondence items. For the first time, the parcel lane moved ahead of the letter lane.

In 2022, correspondence led by 71 million items. In 2023, the lead had narrowed to 20 million. In 2024, parcels moved ahead by 68 million.

In 2024, a domestic parcel took 1.2 days on average, while a domestic correspondence item took 2.6 days. The gap between the two averages was 1.4 days.
