Before you use this resource: National and county administrative boundaries differ fundamentally between the 1930 census (Greater Romania) and postwar censuses. Locality-level reconciliations require historical territorial crosswalk keys.

Digitized volumes of the 1930 General Census (directed by Sabin Manuilă) and postwar series were verified on INS and academic repositories.

1. Select the census volume corresponding to the studied period.
2. Check the historical territorial definition of the county or sub-district.
3. Harmonize raw data based on changing census definitions (e.g. declared ethnicity vs. mother tongue).
