# Ireland: one point per 30 EVs. But 55% are fast.

At the end of December 2025, the CSO counted 3,416 public electric-vehicle charging points in Ireland. The published ratio is one point per 30 electric passenger vehicles and vans. 1,883 points were fast: 1,883 / 3,416 = 55.122951%, rounded to 55%.

## Two answers, not one

30:1 describes point density against the vehicle denominator. 55% describes the composition of those points. They are not interchangeable measures.

## The units

The CSO separates a physical location, a point or EVSE, and a connector. Ireland had 1,125 locations, 3,416 points, and 3,662 connectors. One point can have several connections.

## The reference dates

Ireland's infrastructure is measured at the end of December 2025. The EU-27 comparison uses May 2026: 7:1 points per vehicle and 19% fast points. This is not a same-day snapshot.

## What fast means

The CSO defines fast as three-phase AC above 22 kW or DC at least 50 kW. The definition is not a promise about time spent at a station.

## What does not appear

The data does not measure availability, delivered power, queues, geography, or payment experience. Coverage is comprehensive for larger operators, but some smaller operators had not supplied API data.

## The permitted claim

We can say that 55% of reported points were fast. These rows cannot show that the network is sufficient or queue-free.
