# How straight is your line?

Draw one straight line between the two pegs in the HTML edition, with finger, mouse, or keyboard. The board snaps the red line beside it, the straightest of them all, and hatches every place where the pencil left it.

## How it works

1. Press on the board and draw one line in a single motion, peg to peg.
2. On release, the page joins your line's endpoints with the ideal segment.
3. You get the widest drift, the mean drift, where the hand pulls, and a score from 0 to 100.
4. Draw another line, or copy the result and send it to someone.

## What goes into the score

We measure every point of the line against the ideal segment, in board units. The score starts at 100 and drops 12 points for each percent of maximum drift. The millimetres read on a stated scale: what the drift would measure if the line were a 30-centimetre ruler.

The result mixes your hand, finger or mouse, browser sampling, and screen size. It is a parlour measurement, not a medical test.
