How two pizzas compare
A round pizza's area is the circle's area: radius squared times π. Because the radius is squared, diameter gaps get amplified: 40 against 32 means +56.25% pizza, on a diameter only 25% larger.
area = π × (diameter / 2)²
The money rule is simple: if the price grows less than the area, the large pizza is the better deal. That is why the verdict always shows both percentages — how much extra pizza you get and how much extra money you pay — plus the price per 100 cm², which picks the winner. The circles above are drawn to scale from the diameters, so the visible gap is the real gap.
Limits: the comparison measures size, assuming a round pizza measured edge to edge. Crust, edge, and toppings differ from one pizzeria to another; when the menu lists weights, use the weight fields for the price per 100 g.
Frequent questions
32 vs 40 cm: how much more pizza is it, really?
56.25% more: 32 cm means 804 cm², while 40 cm means 1,257 cm². The diameter grows 25%, but the area grows with the square of the diameter.
Two small pizzas or one large?
Two 32 cm pizzas (1,608 cm² together) are almost one 45 cm pizza (1,590 cm²). Compare the total price of the two against the large one, per 100 cm² — the Jerry's example above shows a large beating two smalls on money too.
How is the price per 100 cm² calculated?
Divide the price by the area and multiply by 100. Example: 35 lei for 1,257 cm² means 2.79 lei per 100 cm².
Do crust and toppings matter?
The comparison measures size, not taste. A thick crust or a stuffed edge changes what you actually eat; when the menu lists weights, compare the price per 100 g too.
Why does the large pizza weigh more than it looks?
Because weight grows with the area too: the Daria Margherita goes from 450 g at 32 cm to 790 g at 40 cm, which is +75.6%.
Can I compare three pizzas at once?
