How we count §

A school day is a Monday–Friday inside the course modules that falls in no break and on no day off. Counting is exclusive: “after today” — today never counts, even when it is a course day. “Școala altfel” and “Săptămâna verde” are activity days, so they do count.

Days off subtracted from the count

• 5 Oct 2026 (Monday) — Education Day, off under the sector contract
• 30 Nov 2026 (Monday) — St. Andrew, public holiday
• 1 Dec 2026 (Tuesday) — National Day, public holiday
• 1 Jun 2027 (Tuesday) — Children's Day, public holiday
• 21 Jun 2027 (Monday) — Whit Monday, public holiday; only matters for the tech path, other tracks end earlier

These cost nothing because they fall on weekends or inside a break: 24 January (Sunday), 1 May (Saturday), Good Friday and Easter (inside the spring break), 5 June (Saturday).

What we do not know yet

Weeks are built in for 35 counties plus Bucharest. For 31 counties, the source is a decision or notice published by the inspectorate. In Hunedoara, ISJ republishes a calendar created by Edupedu; its visible watermark identifies the graphic's creator, not an inspectorate-authored decision. It marks the school weekdays 22–26 February as a break. Arad's University Aurel Vlaicu school calendar says ISJ Arad chose 1–7 March. Alba's Ciugud school calendar lists courses through 26 February and their resumption on 8 March, both at the inspectorate's decision; the 1–7 March break is inferred from this gap, with 27–28 February falling on a weekend. For Prahova, the calendar of Liceul Tehnologic Energetic “Elie Radu” in Ploiești lists 22–28 February and cites the ISJ decision. For Bucharest, we use Edupedu's report of the ISMB decision. The other 6 counties remain unconfirmed: pick the week your inspectorate has announced. The full-year school-day total stays the same. During February–March, your choice can change remaining school days to summer. Sunday 28 February has no courses either way.

Article 4 of Mehedinți ISJ decision 625/24 February 2026 explicitly sets the week of 22–28 February. Article 4 of Vaslui ISJ decision 104/20 March 2026 gives the school weekdays 22–26 February. The later official erratum changes only article 1 and leaves the other provisions that do not conflict with it unchanged.

Tulcea follows inspectorate decision 3703/30 April 2026. Dâmbovița follows the explicit statement on page 9 of the inspectorate's official biology-teachers' material. The Sălaj schedule, approved 3 September 2026, prints 20–28 February; 20–21 February is a weekend, so the no-course week is normalized to 22–28 February.

For Bistrița-Năsăud, ProPolitica reported on 1 September 2026 that general inspector Vasile Șteopoaie announced 15–21 February 2027 under a 23 March board decision. We have not read the original decision. This remains separate from confirmed county weeks; the calculator uses it as a starting assumption for you to check with your school. Read the report.

Where we got it §

The year structure comes from Order 3194/2026 on the 2026–2027 school year structure. Mobile weeks come from inspectorate decisions and notices; in Hunedoara, ISJ republishes an Edupedu graphic, while for Arad, Alba and Prahova we use school calendars that cite decisions or course periods set by the inspectorates. For Bucharest, we use Edupedu's report of the ISMB decision. Document dates and access dates for pages without a publication date appear beside the sources. Days off come from Edupedu.
