W14 West Kensington: why this London postcode has the number 14

Last in the alphabet, after West Ealing

West Kensington is W14 because of the alphabet. W2 is Paddington, a district office, and in the Post Office's list of March 1917 the offices after it follow by name: West Kensington comes after West Ealing (W13), and is the last of them.
