Where the name comes from
Named after the village of Brill, north of which it stood as terminus of the Brill Tramway, built by the 3rd Duke of Buckingham. The village name means "hill" twice over: it combines the Brythonic breg and the Anglo-Saxon hyll.
Worth knowing: In 1933 it was briefly a London Underground terminus, more than two hours' travel from the City of London.
