Where the name comes from
The station opened in 1871 as Castle Hill, the name of a Victorian housing estate on Castlebar Hill, became Castle Hill Ealing Dean in 1875 and West Ealing in 1899. Ealing Dean was one of the settlements around Ealing, whose name comes from the Gillingas, a Saxon tribe.
