Where the name comes from
Named after Dagenham and after Heathway, the main shopping street it stands on. Dagenham comes from Old English Dæccan hamm, the farm of a man called Dæcca.
Worth knowing: It opened in 1932 as Heathway; Dagenham Council pushed for "Dagenham Central", but it became Dagenham Heathway in 1949.
