Why is it called Ealing Broadway?

DistrictCentral

Where the name comes from

Ealing comes from the Gillingas, a Saxon tribe named in a charter of about 700, who took their name from a chief called Gilla. Ealing Broadway is the name used for the town centre.

Worth knowing: It opened as plain Ealing and was renamed Ealing Broadway in 1875.
