Hammersmith (Grove Road), where the Tube once ran
Metropolitan
Where the name comes from
Named after Hammersmith and Grove Road (now Hammersmith Grove), on which it stood. Hammersmith may mean "(place with) a hammer smithy or forge"; in 1839 Thomas Faulkner proposed instead Old English ham plus hythe, a reference to the riverside.
