Where the name comes from
Named after Hyde Park Corner, the road junction at the corner of Hyde Park near which it stands. The park takes its name from the Manor of Hyde, recorded in the Domesday Book; the name is thought to be Saxon and to mean a hide, a unit of land enough to support one family.
