Why is it called Kentish Town?

Where the name comes from
Probably from Ken-ditch or Caen-ditch, the bed of a waterway, and unrelated to the county of Kent. Another theory derives it from cant or cantle, Middle English for corner, as the area lies between two forks of the River Fleet.
