Where the name comes from
Named after Mark Lane, the street where it stood and where London's Corn Exchanges were located. Early plans called it Trinity Square, then Seething Lane, before the more recognisable Mark Lane was chosen.
Worth knowing: Renamed Tower Hill in 1946, it closed in 1967, but part of its platform can still be seen from trains between Monument and Tower Hill.
