The old Shoreditch station

Where the name comes from
Named after the district of Shoreditch in east London. Scholars agree the name comes from Old English scoradīc, "shore-ditch", the shore being a riverbank or slope, but disagree about which shore. The story that it was named after Jane Shore, mistress of Edward IV, is folk etymology.
Worth knowing: In 2014 the disused building became a pop-up cinema where summer audiences watched films from hot tubs.
