Where the name comes from
Named after Sloane Square, on whose east side the station stands. The square is named after Sir Hans Sloane (1660–1753), an Anglo-Irish doctor who owned the land at the time.
Worth knowing: The River Westbourne crosses the station site and is carried over the platforms in a large pipe.
