Where the name comes from
Named after the town of Slough in Berkshire. The name was first recorded in 1195 as Slo, for a hamlet between Upton and Chalvey around the crossroads where the road to Windsor met the Great West Road.
Worth knowing: Trains stopped at Slough from 1838 without a station, because of restrictions near Eton College; tickets were sold at the Crown Inn.
