Named after a nearby inn, The Swiss Tavern, built in 1804 in the style of a Swiss chalet on the site of a tollgate keeper's cottage, and later renamed Swiss Cottage.
Worth knowing: The inn, latterly Ye Olde Swiss Cottage, closed in February 2025.
