Why is it called Tooting Bec?

Where the name comes from
Tooting Bec was a manor held by the Abbey of Bec in Normandy, which added "Bec" to the name. Tooting is Anglo-Saxon but disputed: perhaps "the people of Tota", or from an old sense of "tout", to look out. The station was originally called Trinity Road (Tooting Bec) and took its present name in 1950.
