Where the name comes from
Named after Finchley, whose name probably means "Finch's clearing" or "finches' clearing" in late Anglo-Saxon; it was first recorded in the early 13th century. The station opened in 1933 to serve new housing.
Worth knowing: Many of its fittings were taken from stations in the north of England.
