Where the name comes from
Named after the district, called the Great White City because the plaster pavilions of the 1908 Franco-British Exhibition looked like white marble. The station opened in 1947, replacing the earlier Wood Lane station.
Worth knowing: Trains run on the right through the station, a legacy of the loop built for the closed Wood Lane station.
