Named after Willesden, from Anglo-Saxon Willesdune, "the Hill of the Spring"; a manor of this name was recorded in 939 and appears in the Domesday Book as Wellesdone.
Worth knowing: The ticket hall keeps much of its rare original green mosaic tiling.
