The warmest street is Strada Burniței: 23.3°C, across 38 addresses. The coldest is Aleea Ștrandului Tei: 16.2°C, across 20 addresses. And Smârdan has 21.7°C across 72 addresses, 31.4°C below June.

The numbers come from two clear middaies: 25 October 2025, around 11:57, and 29 June 2026 — two Landsat 9 passes. It is surface temperature, not air, and two different years: 2025 for October, 2026 for June.

What the degrees mean#

Every street, park and map cell is coloured by its mean surface temperature, in degrees Celsius; the bands are the same everywhere. It is what the asphalt felt at midday, in October, not the air.

A pixel is 30 metres, from a native 100-metre signal: one pixel holds roof, street and tree at once. That is why the page talks about the zone's cool, not your door's.

The bands are this analysis's cuts, fitted to the October spread: cold is below 18°C, “still summer” above 22°C. Every ranking sits beside the raw mean. Bands use unrounded means: exactly 18.0°C still counts as “Cold”.

How the number is made#

Each street takes its autumn from around its addresses: 50-metre discs around every point in the index, clear pixels only, no clouds. The mean is the mean October surface temperature; the difference is taken against June 2026.

The days are 25 October 2025, around 11:57, and 29 June 2026: two Landsat 9 passes with barely a cloud above the city — 99.6% of pixels are cloud-clear in October. Mind the calendar: October is 2025, June is 2026.

A street with under 3 addresses, under 20 clear pixels, or under half of its pixels clear gets no number; rankings keep only streets with at least 20 addresses. 1,351 streets stayed unmeasured — they show as such, not as zero.

Limits: the satellite's thermometer measures the skin of the surface, not the air — some pixels pass 25°C when the ERA5 reanalysis put the air maximum at 16.8°C that day. A pixel mixes everything it catches: roof, street, tree. And they are two middaies from two years: the comparison shows the season, not a controlled experiment.
