Where the name comes from
Named after Blake Hall, a country house about a mile to the north-east, home of the Capel-Cure family of local landowners.
Blake Hall and the Ongar branch
The Central line once ran beyond Epping into the Essex countryside. Blake Hall was the least used station on the network: about 17 passengers a day when it closed in 1981. North Weald and Ongar followed on 30 September 1994. Heritage trains run on the line today.
