Why is it called Bond Street?

Where the name comes from
Named after Bond Street in Mayfair; the entrances are near the junction of Oxford Street and New Bond Street. The street is named after Sir Thomas Bond, head of a group of developers who bought and demolished Clarendon House in 1686 and built on its land. Early plans called the station Davies Street.
Worth knowing: During London Fashion Week in 2023 Burberry paid TfL £200,000 to rename it "Burberry Street" temporarily.
