Where the name comes from

"Covent" is an Anglo-French word for a religious community, a convent. The name refers to a walled garden of Westminster Abbey, recorded in 1515 as "a garden called Covent Garden".

Worth knowing: In the 7th century the area was the heart of Lundenwic, an Anglo-Saxon trading town, before returning to fields.
