Why is it called Russell Square?

Where the name comes from

Named after Russell Square, one of Bloomsbury's garden squares. The Bloomsbury estate passed to the Russell family, later Dukes of Bedford, through a 17th-century marriage; it is likely, though not recorded outright, that the square is named after them. Bloomsbury itself is named after the Blemund family, who held the manor.

Worth knowing: The station was the setting for the 1972 horror film Death Line, starring Donald Pleasence and Christopher Lee.
