Where the name comes from
Named after a nearby bridge over the River Ingrebourne. Upminster comes from Old English upp and mynster, possibly "the large church on high ground", above the Ingrebourne valley.
Worth knowing: The floor is tiled with a reversed swastika pattern, a popular decorative design when the station was built in 1934.
