Questions workers ask

The recruiter promised free accommodation, but I am being charged.

Keep the two statements separate: the recruitment representation (“free”) and the later contractual/actual charge. If the promise exists in writing, preserve it. Current Romanian guidance also contains a separate ceiling where accommodation is provided by the employer: rent may not exceed 25% of net salary/net remuneration. Neither fact automatically resolves the entire dispute.

Boundary: The numerical ceiling is not an “all clear”; other legal, contractual and factual issues can still matter.

What to do next

  1. Save the message or advert saying accommodation was free.
  2. Find the accommodation clause in the offer and contract.
  3. Record the exact monthly deduction and your net salary.
  4. Use the calculator to test only the 25% arithmetic, then obtain advice on the contractual mismatch.
