Transnistria from Romania: a day-trip guide — border, safety, Tiraspol
Method & sources
How red was set, the source of each section, the quote-vs-rewrite line, and what the page leaves out.
Method & sources
D1 · The red (both advisories, fetched 2026-09-19, 200)
UK page (current 19.09.2026, updated 10.12.2025, i.e. 10 Dec 2025): “FCDO advises against all travel to Transnistria. … Transnistria is outside the control of the Moldovan government.” + extremely limited support. Romanian page (3739, July 2026, i.e. iulie 2026): “Nu sunt recomandate călătoriile…” + avoidance + no consular protection. One red turns the page red.
D2 · Procedure & safety (three FCDO pages + MAE, fetched 2026-09-19, 200)
Entry: no official border but checkpoints; passports checked, unstamped; two migration cards, one kept; questions and refusal; overstay penalties. Safety: ruble-only, other currencies illegal, ATMs without foreign cards, no exchange outside, the photo ban on military/government sites (detention/arrest), general card fraud, Asian-visitor discrimination reports. Regional: the 2022 explosions, Ukraine crossings closed, the “extremism” law. MAE: bank/office exchange, consular phones, no protection inside.
D3 · Route & operator (portal + PMR-TOURS, fetched 2026-09-19, 200)
General portal: the Bucharest–Chișinău night train exists; the region lists Tiraspol and Bender/Tighina. Region page: Soviet statues of Tiraspol, Bender–Tighina fortress (1538 Ottoman, Charles XII 1709), the Chișinău day-tour recommendation, about 500,000 people and the ethnic mix (the portal's wording). Operator: the old domain announces the move to pmr-tours.com (local law, September 2024); the new domain has transfers + tour names (Classic/Soviet/Cognac) + multilingual guides + the 10-hour address. No prices quoted, no endorsement.
D4 · Context (OSCE, fetched 2026-09-19, 200)
Mission page: established 4 February 1993, the settlement basis (sovereignty/integrity + special status), Chișinău–Tiraspol dialogue. Mandate page: the same mediation wording. The early-1990s war years, the ceasefire date and 5+2 details were not verified on OSCE pages this round — unwritten.
D5 · Unwritten and unlinked
Bus-station timetables (homepage has no times, iRuta endpoint mute), CFR times (homepage has no static times), Kvint bookings, the tank/Soviets' House, roaming/SIM, queues, the Cyrillic official language (constitution unfetched), EUBAM (network mute), the Moldovan visa list (MFA site mute; eVisa link instead, nothing restated). Ukraine-side route: FCDO says the crossings are closed — not built.
