The line: five checkpoint steps
No official border, but checkpoints. Five steps from the FCDO entry page; the operator step is marked single-source.
1. Chișinău side only
There is no official border between Moldova and Transnistria, only de-facto checkpoints (FCDO). Crossings to Ukraine are closed (FCDO): no Ukraine-side routing.
2. Passport checked, not stamped
FCDO: passports are controlled but not stamped. The Moldovan side registers your entry date automatically; overstays are punished severely (including expulsion).
3. Two migration cards, keep one
FCDO: on entry you fill in two migration cards for the authorities; keep one to show on exit.
4. Questions likely, refusal possible
FCDO: the authorities may ask purpose, length and accommodation; they may also deny entry.
5. Over 10 hours: give address (single source)

moldova.travel: in Tiraspol there is “no shortage of Soviet statues, monuments and celebrations”. It recommends the Chișinău day tour (transport ＋ paperwork).
Bender–Tighina fortress
The portal: Bender holds Tighina Fortress (both names), Ottoman-built in 1538; King Charles XII sheltered here in 1709.
