A geography game with a pin on the map
Where Is It?
The game names a place in Romania — a monastery, a fortress, a town — and you drop the pin where you think it is. Ten rounds, scored by kilometres, and at the end you learn how well you know the map.

How to play
The rules of the game
- You get ten places, one per round, with no repeats: monasteries, Dacian fortresses, fortified and wooden churches, castles, a cave and towns.
- Drop the pin with a click or a tap; move it with another click or with the arrow keys, and Enter locks the answer like the button.
- The score starts at 1,000 points per round and falls with distance: about 660 at 50 kilometres, 435 at 100, under 200 past 200 kilometres.
- Rounds guessed within 50 kilometres keep a streak: each streak round after the first adds 50 points per level, up to +250.
- The hint names the quadrant of the place — north-east, south-west and the others — but halves the round score.
- After each round you see the true place, the miss distance and the county. Your best score is saved between visits.

Where the map and the places come from
The map shows the 41 counties and Bucharest with today's borders. The 45 places take their coordinates from the maps published on this site: the UNESCO sites, the Dacian fortresses, the castles, the caves and the medieval towns. Every place was checked to fall in the county the game names at the end of the round.
