One of the most symbolic massifs of the Eastern Carpathians, with dramatic rocky ridges — Toaca, Panaghia, Detunatele — and the Duruitoarea waterfall. Ocolașul Mare peak (1,907 m), the highest, sits inside a strictly protected scientific reserve, visitable only with a ranger, in groups of up to 9.
