Visiting
A gorge cut by the Jiu river between the Vâlcan and Parâng mountains, with the "Sphinx of Lainici" rock formation. Over 80% beech and oak forest, bear, lynx, otter; nearby, Lainici Monastery (1817) and Bolii Cave, known for its concert-hall acoustics.
