Visiting
The most extensive volcanic massif in the Carpathians, with Pietrosul Călimani peak (2,100 m) — Romania's highest volcanic summit — and the "12 Apostles" reserve, eroded volcanic rock columns on the rim of an old caldera. It holds the country's largest expanse of dwarf-pine scrub.
