Pietrosul Rodnei peak (2,303 m), the highest in the Eastern Carpathians, with glacial lakes such as Lacul Iezer and alpine flora rich in rare or endemic species. The park is a UNESCO biosphere reserve, with one of the longest mountain ridges in the north of the country.
