Questions workers ask

I was promised €900 but my Romanian contract says 3,400 lei.

Different currencies create a comparison problem before they create a legal conclusion. Record the exact date and wording of the €900 promise: was it gross, net, approximate, guaranteed, or “up to”? Then compare it with the contract’s gross/net figure and any written exchange-rate explanation. Do not silently convert the two and call them equal or unequal without context.

Boundary: This is a reading rule for this guide, not a statement of Romanian law. Matching documents only tells you that the documents agree; it does not prove that the job is safe or lawful.

What to do next

  1. Preserve the original promise with date.
  2. Identify gross versus net in both statements.
  3. Record the exchange rate/date used by whoever made the comparison.
