Where the name comes from
A person
Anghel Saligny (1854–1925), civil engineer who built the Danube bridge at Cernavodă.
Saligny designed (1888) and built (1890–1895) the Danube bridge at Cernavodă, opened on 14 September 1895 in the presence of King Carol I; at the time it was the longest in Europe. He is considered one of the founders of Romanian engineering. His name replaced 'Linia de Centură' in 2009.

Linia de Centură ('Ring Road') refers to Bucharest's ring road, near which the station lies.
