Where the name comes from

A place or district

Pipera, a former village north of Bucharest.

In the late 19th century Pipera (also called Tătărani) was a village of 122 people; it is now a district of Voluntari. The station was built for the Pipera industrial estate; after 1990 the area became an office and residential district.
