Where the name comes from

A place or district

Piața Gorjului (Gorjului market), to the east of which the station lies.

The station takes its name from the nearby Piața Gorjului. Why the market bears the name of Gorj county is not clear.

Worth knowing

  • It was built in two stages: the westbound platform opened in 1994, the eastbound one only in 1998.
  • So the two platforms use different materials and colours: warm reddish tones outbound, cool tones inbound.
  • The two platforms are connected by a short tunnel.
