The Romanian writer Tudor Arghezi (1880–1967).
Tudor Arghezi was the pen name of Ion Nae Theodorescu, poet, prose writer and pamphleteer, born and died in Bucharest. Why his name was chosen for the station is not clear.

'Berceni Centură' was a working name, after its position by Bucharest's ring road.
Worth knowing
- It is the only station on the network built by a district council, Sector 4; the financing contract was worth 50 million euros in grants.
- From 15 November 2023 to 8 May 2024 trains ran as a shuttle from Berceni because the signalling was unfinished.
- Together with Berceni, it is one of the only two above-ground stations.
- It is the southern terminus of M2, by the ring road, with a Park & Ride nearby.
