Engineer Costin Georgian (1929–1992), head of Metrorex.
Costin Georgian was a civil engineer, technical director of the metro from 1981 and general director after 1989; early in construction he was in charge of Izvor and Eroilor stations. He died on 25 August 1992, the eve of Basarab station's opening, and transport minister Traian Băsescu decided to rename Muncii station in his honour.
