Where the name comes from
A place or district
The former Izvor neighbourhood on the right bank of the Dâmbovița, demolished for the Palace of the Parliament.
The station opened in 1979 in what was then the Izvor neighbourhood. A few years later the Mihai Vodă hill was levelled for the Palace of the Parliament and the monastery cells were demolished; the church and belfry were moved in 1985. The name survives in Izvor Park, laid out in the 1990s.
