When to open the window in winter: the air is dirtiest in the evening, not at rush hour

In winter, 98 of 112 official Romanian stations measure their dirtiest air between 7 and 11 p.m., and during the day 106 are cleanest between 1 and 4 p.m. The night of 9 February 2023 in Bucharest, hour by hour, on a section through the city with its real buildings: the warm lid measured by the Băneasa weather balloon and the smoke held in the lowest tens of metres. On Sundays, in similar weather, exhaust gas falls while evening particles show no clear difference. The share of homes heated with wood shows no clear link to the evening rise; the shape of the land is more closely linked. For every station: the best hour to air a room.
